Margery Small is an artist who is very concerned with the human psyche and events
that might be common to all people. She takes basic human feelings and turns them into
tales of the human condition. Because life is made up of so many senses, both real
and abstract, she combines both aspects in her work. She uses ideas, paints, fabrics,
words and other media to tell her stories. Her paintings evoke intense emotions.
Ms. Small leaves it to the viewer to bring their own experiences and feelings to
her work. In the process of her paintings, Ms. Small brings together emotion,
intellect and spontaneity.
